Earth Day

Earth Day Celebration and Fundraisers

Two of our core values at Prairie Song are sustainability and accessibility; our participation in Thousand Hills’ Earth Day event aligns with both! We regularly work with students to learn how to best protect the Earth. We also work to make our tuition accessible to all families in Northeast Missouri who wish to send their children to Prairie Song. We have a sliding tuition scale for all families, so our tuition doesn’t cover our yearly expenses; community fundraising makes up the difference!

Read on to see how you can celebrate Earth Day and support Prairie Song at the same time!

Pre-Order Territorial Seeds

  1. Look through the Territorial Seeds available for purchase via our fundraiser in the catalog below:

2. Fill out an order form. You can fill out the form digitally and pay online here, via Omella. Or, you can place an order in person with a Prairie Song student you know and give them the money for the order. Note that any order you make on Territorial’s website itself will NOT be able to be counted in our fundraiser; orders must go through Prairie Song to count. We get 45% of the price of each seed packet you order!

3. Pick up your seeds. If you are a Prairie Song family, you can pick up your seeds at school on Friday, April 17th. If you are a community member, you can either ask the student you purchased seeds from to pick up and deliver your seeds to you, or you can pick them up at our booth at Thousand Hills’ Earth Day event on Saturday, April 18th! The booth will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., and we’ll also have seed paper available for purchase as well as free kids’ crafts at our booth.

Seed Paper Bookmarks

At our booth at Thousand Hills’ Earth Day event we’ll have seed paper available in vegetable, herb, and pollinator varieties. This paper is made by one student’s family from recycled paper collected at school. The recycled paper is available thanks to a high schooler’s ongoing recycling project!

The seed paper bookmarks can be placed in dirt and watered, and will sprout! These will be available for $3 per bookmark, or $5 for a set of two.

Stop by Thousand Hills in the beach area parking lot and paved trail to find us and all of the other booths available on Saturday, April 18th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.!

Free Earth Day Crafts for Kids

Our Lower Elementary lead guide, Kate, will have fun crafts for kids to do at our Earth Day booth! Bring children by for a fun stop along the Earth Day booth path!

Territorial Seeds at the Booth

We’ll have a limited stock of some of the Territorial Seed packs at our booth as well. If you have specific seeds you want, though, be sure to preorder! We won’t be able to stock them all! We’ve used these seeds and they’re excellent. Fans of Baker Creek seeds will also love Territorial Seeds!
